Field Service Engineer, Italy

Overview

Junior, entry-level field-based engineering role supporting Illumina instrument systems and customers in Italy.

What you'll do

• Support the installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of Illumina instrument systems
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide on-site assistance to customers
• Help coordinate service requests and work towards effective, timely resolutions
• Support new instrument installations, including facility inspections and instrument validation
• Maintain appropriate service-parts inventory to support successful customer interventions
• Work with sales and marketing colleagues around new system placements, upgrades and contract renewals
• Build strong relationships with customers and internal partners
• Participate in departmental projects while building your technical knowledge and experience

What you'll need

• Recently completed MSc degree within a relevant engineering field, OR BSc degree with some relevant field experience
• Living in Italy
• Valid driving licence in Italy (essential)
• Flexibility to travel up to 80%
• Fluent Italian and English (essential)

Nice to have

• Engineering or related technical background
• Interest in hands-on troubleshooting and working with complex instrumentation
• Exposure to optics and lasers
• Familiarity with Linux, networked systems or general IT
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Ability to stay organised and composed when solving problems
• Collaborative mindset and genuine appetite to learn

Details

• Field-based role in Italy, based in Campania or Puglia (other Italian locations will be considered)
• Travel up to 80%
