Forward Deployed Engineer

Overview

Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) role serving as an interface between the central AI Application Modernization Factory and application delivery teams.

What you'll do

• Embed with application teams to lead modernization design, development, and delivery.
• Drive modernization to AWS cloud-native architectures (including re-platforming and microservices adoption).
• Serve as an AI modernization subject matter expert and manage adoption of AI-assisted SDLC practices.
• Consult with teams to identify bottlenecks and implement technical and process change.
• Contribute hands-on code for architectural scaffolding, CI/CD, and Terraform-based IaC.
• Act as a feedback channel for tool/process issues back to central engineering leadership.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards (Twelve-Factor App, DevSecOps, coding quality).

What you'll need

• 5+ years progressive software engineering experience focused on enterprise apps and application modernization.
• Strong hands-on full-stack experience across front-end, back-end, database, and infrastructure.
• Expert proficiency in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, C#, Java).
• Deep practical AWS cloud-native experience.
• Strong Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
• Experience setting up and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and integrating DevSecOps practices.
• Solid understanding of microservices/serverless/event-driven patterns and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
