Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI

Overview

Forward Deployed Engineer for Juniper Square’s Applied AI team, building and operating custom AI agents for private markets clients.

What you'll do

• Work directly with GP clients to find workflows where custom agents create leverage.
• Support discovery by translating business problems into clear requirements, scope, and acceptance criteria.
• Own components through prototype, validation, hardening, deployment, rollout, and production operation.
• Design and build agentic systems including retrieval/context design, tool/MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses, and observability/cost controls.
• Make engineering trade-offs that meet client commitments while maintaining reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Operate deployed solutions via post-launch support and iteration on user feedback, plus training and rollout documentation.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of professional experience shipping production software with hands-on AI-enabled application development.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into requirements and deliver working software.
• Full-stack capability across data, services, user interfaces, and underlying infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of a major cloud provider, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production monitoring.
• Comfort working directly with external clients or customers.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development and depth to understand, debug, and defend what you ship.
• Excellent written communication for requirements, documentation, and client-facing updates.

Nice to have

• Experience in private markets, financial services, or another regulated, data-sensitive domain.
• Familiarity with application security and data handling practices for client data under contractual and SOC 2 obligations.
• Experience building evaluation and regression testing for non-deterministic systems.
• Consulting, professional services, or forward-deployed engineering background.
