Job description

Overview

Act as the HR Business Partner for Group Technology in IG Securities, partnering senior leaders across Core Technology, Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Operations, and Data and AI, while the business is mid-transformation.

What you'll do

  • Own the relationship with the Group Technology leadership team and be their trusted partner on anything that touches people.
  • Develop a genuine understanding of how each technology domain works (Core Trading, Trading Platform, Platform Services, AI DevEx, Prime Technology and Product), how they are performing, and what their leaders are focused on.
  • Flag talent risk and structural issues early, and connect the people agenda to what the business is trying to deliver.
  • Navigate competing priorities across multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Be the commercial conscience in people decisions: challenge headcount growth, flag cost risk in hiring and contractor plans, and push back when structure does not reflect strategy.
  • Support the contractor reduction and Project Catalyst agenda, ensuring headcount and cost decisions are made with the right information and rigour.
  • Build and defend business cases, connecting people decisions to cost, risk and delivery using attrition, headcount, engagement and cost data.
  • Partner the Tech leadership team on the skills and capability agenda for the next 12-18 months, including gaps and how to close them through retraining, hiring or exits.
  • Lead the skills inventory process for the Bangalore technology population, identify single-person dependencies, and build a retention plan for critical individuals.
  • Support the shift to AI-enabled engineering, low-latency expertise and platform reliability as core capabilities.
  • Develop progression frameworks that make technical and individual contributor careers as visible and valued as people management careers.
  • Lead people initiatives for the Technology population end to end, including a people plan covering retention, capability building, accountability and performance differentiation.
  • Feed on-the-ground insight back into the Centre of Excellence.
  • Lead the most sensitive and complex employee relations cases, including senior-level and cross-border matters, under Indian employment law; coach managers and work with Group ER on matters carrying serious legal or reputational risk.
  • Set the bar for performance management in the Tech population, push leaders to differentiate and recognise performance, and ensure high performers are retained and stretched.
  • Own the engagement agenda for the Bangalore technology population and hold leaders accountable for their own scores.
  • Lead restructures in the Technology population from start to finish, compliantly and with care, and advise leaders on structure, spans, layers and role design before decisions are made.
  • Support operating model changes in IG Securities Technology.

What you'll need

  • Significant HRBP experience, ideally within technology, financial services or a fast-paced global business, and confidence partnering senior technology leaders.
  • Genuine commercial curiosity about what Technology teams do, how they deliver, and what business strategy means for their people.
  • Credibility and courage to challenge senior leaders on cost, headcount, structure and talent, backed by evidence.
  • Experience leading restructures, redundancy processes and organisational change under Indian employment law, with care for the people involved.
  • Confidence with senior and complex ER cases.
  • Strong commercial thinking: building business cases, defending a number, and connecting people decisions to business outcomes.
  • Experience working on skills, capability or workforce planning, ideally in a technology context.
  • Comfort with people data and finding insight in the numbers to influence decisions.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement, discretion, and the ability to operate across multiple senior stakeholders simultaneously.
