Industrial Engineer

Overview

As an Industrial Engineer, you will support the design and optimization of supply chain processes and facilities at Target, applying process improvement and material flow principles.

What you'll do

• Analyze processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
• Create process maps, layouts, and workflows to optimize material and product flow.
• Collect and analyze data to define throughput, storage, and cycle time requirements.
• Build basic models to simulate material flow and identify potential constraints.
• Research options to evaluate automation and robotics technologies.
• Prepare cost models for capital and operational expense design alternatives.
• Draft technical documentation and assist with RFP preparation under guidance.

What you'll need

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Production, or Supply Chain Engineering.
• Have 1+ years of experience in process design, automation engineering, or supply chain facility design.
• Be proficient in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar.
• Show strong analytical and problem-solving skills and Excel proficiency.
• Have willingness to learn involving vendor engagement.
• Be familiar with Lean and/or Six Sigma or process improvement concepts.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree preferred.
• Exposure to simulation tools is a plus.
• SQL/Python skills are a plus.
