Overview
Join Citi’s Consumer Operations Technology team as an Intermediate Software Engineer – Data Application Developer. Contribute to the design, development, security, reliability, and performance of critical application systems across the full development lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Design and implement system enhancements by analyzing existing application code and applying scripting tools to address functional and technical requirements.
- Build and support customer-facing systems by consulting with users, clients, and technology teams to translate business needs into effective programming solutions.
- Develop application components using fundamental programming principles and contribute to design specifications across the software development lifecycle.
- Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities through structured security analysis, testing, and debugging.
- Diagnose and resolve application issues independently, applying technical experience and established precedents to implement effective, lasting solutions.
- Guide and coach junior analysts, sharing technical knowledge to strengthen team capability and delivery quality.
- Assess risk considerations in technical decisions and ensure application changes align with compliance standards and safeguard Citi’s systems and clients.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of experience in an applications development role within the financial services industry.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Java, ETL processes, and SQL Server for building and maintaining data-driven applications.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions with limited supervision.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capacity to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt effectively to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience designing or supporting data processing pipelines and ETL workflows in a financial services or enterprise context.
- Familiarity with application security practices, including vulnerability assessment and structured debugging methodologies.
- Prior experience acting as a subject matter resource for senior stakeholders or cross-functional technology teams.
