Java Backend Development Lead - AI-Powered Applications

Overview

Java Backend Development Lead for Citi’s AI-powered platforms, leading design, development, deployment, and integration of AI/ML into production backend systems.

What you'll do

• Lead, manage, and mentor backend developers in an Agile environment.
• Architect backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Integrate and deploy AI/ML models with data scientists for real-time inference and retraining.
• Oversee full software development lifecycle from requirements through maintenance.
• Champion code quality via unit/integration testing and CI/CD, including code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define technical requirements and priorities.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of professional backend software development with strong Java command.
• 8+ years in a technical leadership or lead developer role delivering complex projects.
• 8+ years of Spring Framework experience, particularly Spring Boot, for microservices.
• Experience with microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB/Cassandra).
• Experience with message brokers such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
