Langfuse - Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer for Langfuse (now part of ClickHouse), focused on scaling ingestion and ClickHouse-backed analytics so dashboards load instantly and data-heavy features ship reliably.

What you'll do

• Own and optimize the ingestion pipeline for large volumes of tracing data from API to ClickHouse.
• Optimize ClickHouse schemas, merge strategies, and batch inserts for dashboard and UI queries.
• Build backend abstractions and infrastructure-heavy features for data-heavy product capabilities.
• Run load tests against production data to validate schema, migration, and query optimizations.
• Operate Langfuse Cloud across multiple production environments, including self-hosting support.
• Support deployment from Docker Compose to enterprise-grade Helm charts.

What you'll need

• Backend engineering experience with interest in database internals, query optimization, and distributed systems.
• Experience working with large amounts of data.
• Experience with analytical databases, data pipelines, or high-throughput event processing.
• Comfort reading and writing TypeScript (backend) and SQL.
• Interest in open source and enjoyment discussing users’ scaling challenges.
• Capability to thrive in a small, accountable team where output is visible.
