Lead Engineer- Backend

Overview

Lead backend engineering for scalable, resilient products and services using JVM-based technologies. Guide technical teams, make architecture decisions, and drive reliability, security, and performance improvements.

What you'll do

• Design scalable architectures and select appropriate technologies.
• Develop complex backend services and functionality hands-on.
• Ensure solutions are production-ready, deployable, scalable, and resilient.
• Plan and deliver team work alongside individual engineering tasks.
• Mentor engineers and promote a learning and growth mindset.
• Drive observability, monitoring, stability, and performance improvements.
• Guide security practices and technical strategy across teams.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of experience in software design and development.
• 5+ years of experience building scalable backend applications.
• Advanced proficiency in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut and reactive programming.
• Experience with messaging, databases, CI/CD, cloud, containers, and orchestration.
• Experience with testing, monitoring, and observability tools.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with functional programming in Kotlin.
• Experience designing and integrating GraphQL APIs.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems.
• Knowledge of OWASP, vulnerability scanning, and secure coding.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
