Job description

Overview

Lead power electronics design and development for low- and medium-voltage variable speed/frequency drives and converters. The role covers sizing, simulation, testing, validation, certification and project execution.

What you'll do

  • Design and integrate power electronics systems, switchgear, transformers, bus bars and cables.
  • Size VFDs and converters and select or modify electrical and power electronics components.
  • Use calculations, modelling and simulations to meet project and product requirements.
  • Prepare configurations, specifications, bills of materials, single-line diagrams and drawings.
  • Verify prototype performance and conduct functional, type, routine and factory acceptance tests.
  • Lead certification activities and apply global technical standards to product designs.
  • Support manufacturing, supply chain, vendors and cross-functional project teams.

What you'll need

  • At least 10 years of research and development experience with industrial drives and related components.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Deep understanding of power electronics converter design.
  • Knowledge of motor and drive control systems, filter design and cable sizing.
  • Ability to lead and review electrical design documents and VFD or converter projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, E-Plan and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as ETAB, PSCAD, Ansys, Altium or ORCAD.

Nice to have

  • Industrial knowledge in renewables, oil and gas, marine or metal processing.
  • Experience with electrical, thermal, EMC and structural design requirements.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
