MFT Engineer I

Overview

MFT Engineer I role in IG’s Managed File Transfer team, supporting the GoAnywhere MFT platform for business-critical, regulated data transfers.

What you'll do

• Keep the GoAnywhere MFT platform available and performing.
• Monitor transfer jobs, investigate failures, and resolve incidents.
• Support application teams integrating with MFT services and review workflow designs.
• Manage security configurations including PGP/GPG keys, SSH keys, SSL certificates, and user access controls.
• Tune and optimize file transfer jobs and automate routine operational work.
• Maintain documentation and runbooks for operational, security, and recovery processes.
• Participate in the on-call rota providing 24/7 coverage for business-critical transfers.

What you'll need

• 1 to 3 years in a technical operations, infrastructure, integration, or support engineering role with production systems.
• Linux/Unix and Windows administration with confident command-line use.
• Scripting with Python, Shell (bash or ksh), or PowerShell to automate tasks.
• File transfer protocols including SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS and related security technologies (PGP/GPG, SSH keys, SSL/TLS).
• Experience handling file-based data (flat files, CSV, fixed-width formats, encrypted archives) and verifying integrity end to end.
• Strong analysis and problem-solving to diagnose issues quickly in complex workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal English for updates and incident notes with stakeholders across Bangalore and London.
