Payroll Implementation Support Specialist (Contract)

Overview

Support the implementation of a new payroll provider across complex U.S. and international payroll operations. The role covers planning, data migration, configuration validation, integrations, testing, cutover, go-live readiness, and post-launch stabilization.

What you'll do

• Track implementation workstreams, milestones, dependencies, issues, risks, and status updates.
• Coordinate Payroll, HR, Finance, Engineering/Product, vendor, and implementation-partner teams.
• Assist with payroll data migration, mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
• Validate payroll configurations, data flows, integrations, and payroll processing rules.
• Support user acceptance, integration, and parallel payroll testing.
• Investigate discrepancies, document root causes, and track issues to resolution.
• Support cutover, go-live readiness, hypercare, and post-implementation stabilization.

What you'll need

• 5–8+ years of experience in payroll operations, payroll systems, or payroll implementation support.
• Hands-on experience with at least one complex payroll system or provider implementation.
• Strong understanding of U.S. multi-state payroll environments.
• Experience with high-volume hourly payroll, variable pay, exceptions, cutoffs, and reconciliation.
• Experience with data validation, parallel payroll testing, and issue resolution.
• Strong Excel, communication, documentation, and project coordination skills.
• Availability for a 3–5 month contract.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-country or multi-provider payroll implementations.
• Experience with payroll integrations, APIs, sandbox testing, and system reconciliation.
• CPP, FPC, PMP, or similar certification.
