Overview

Build and own People Tech application solutions for Snap's India-based application development team, combining hands-on engineering with technical design and product translation.

What you'll do

  • Translate product management ideas and business concepts into product designs, technical specifications, prototypes, and implementation plans.
  • Partner across Product, People, HR Technology, IT, Security, Legal, Finance, and Engineering teams to understand requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver solutions that support People Team products and services.
  • Contribute directly to the codebase, developing production code, reviewing pull requests, and resolving complex technical issues, building and testing solutions.
  • Architect scalable People Tech solutions that support internal tools, workflow automation, integrations, reporting, AI-enabled experiences, and operational processes.
  • Own the quality of technical design by writing, reviewing, and approving technical design documents and PRs.
  • Advocate for and apply best practices for availability, scalability, operational excellence, maintainability, cost management, and production support.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to integrate AI, LLM, and chatbot solutions into People Tech systems where appropriate.
  • Design and develop middleware, APIs, services, and integrations across systems such as Slack, Workday, Jira, Confluence, internal People data services, and other enterprise platforms.

What you'll need

  • Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, SQL, APIs, and cloud-based application development.
  • Experience reviewing production code, technical designs, and test plans.
  • Experience translating product requirements or ambiguous stakeholder needs into technical specifications and implementation plans.
  • Experience with backend services or distributed systems.
  • Experience with database design and data modeling.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, including message queues, pub/sub systems, and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, webhooks, middleware, and integrations across multiple systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and deploying services to cloud environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, SQL, and API integration patterns.
  • Experience with Workday integrations, automations, and People data workflows.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, and other cloud-based services.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous product or stakeholder requirements into product designs, technical specs, prototypes, and delivery plans.
  • Ability to lead technical design for complex or cross-system initiatives.
  • Ability to contribute directly to production code while also managing team delivery.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to make pragmatic architecture decisions.
  • Ability to work independently without mature existing infrastructure or support.
  • Proven track record of building applications from scratch.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply AI/LLM capabilities responsibly in internal tools, workflow automation, and employee-facing experiences.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, backend services, enterprise integrations, or related technical roles.
  • Experience building People Tech, HR Technology, Workday, internal tools, workflow automation, or enterprise platform solutions.
