Overview
As an Associate Design Engineer, you will design piping systems for Solar Turbine Construction Services products and Oil & Gas projects, including gas compression stations, power generation projects and BOP systems. You will work with a cross-functional team across FEED, detail engineering, procurement, in-house fabrication and commissioning activities.
What you'll do
- Lead piping design efforts supporting industrial gas turbine packaging, gas compression and power generation projects, and BOP systems engineering and design.
- Demonstrate designing, implementing and maintaining piping systems within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Apply discipline-related industry codes and standards, including ASME and API, across engineering specifications and vendor documentation.
- Perform line sizing, thickness calculation, pressure drop calculation and equipment sizing calculations.
- Prepare line lists, valve lists, equipment lists and piping material specifications.
- Route piping and model equipment using Autodesk Plant 3D.
- Develop and maintain intelligent piping models in Autodesk Revit, including piping systems, equipment, fittings, valves, accessories and pipe supports.
- Create and manage Revit piping families, shared parameters, project templates, view templates, filters, schedules and tagging standards.
- Produce coordinated piping layouts, plans, sections, elevations, spool or fabrication-ready views and quantity schedules from the Revit model.
- Perform multidisciplinary BIM coordination by linking Revit and other discipline models, conducting interference reviews and supporting clash resolution through Navisworks.
- Apply model quality checks for system connectivity, routing accuracy, slopes, elevations, clearances, maintainability, constructability and compliance with project BIM standards.
- Perform pipe support and support engineering activities.
- Extract piping isometrics from 3D models and update isometrics for IFC.
- Create 2D drawings, including piping plans and elevations and equipment layouts.
- Prepare MTOs and BOMs from piping 3D models.
- Provide virtual technical support for the shop floor for engineered orders and commissioning support.
- Continuously improve design technical knowledge, efficiency, quality and productivity.
- Adopt global developments in EPC Oil & Gas project technologies.
- Coordinate linked discipline models and support clash detection and resolution using Revit and Navisworks.
- Check model connectivity, routing, slopes, elevations, clearances, data quality and drawing consistency.
- Generate coordinated piping plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules and quantity outputs from the BIM model.
