Overview
Principal Engineer - Platform Modernisation will lead an AI-first modernization of a mission-critical trust accounting software platform.
What you'll do
- Own the platform architecture for a cloud-native load-balanced, stateless application tier over a managed data tier.
- Lead schema design, data architecture, performance, and migration onto PostgreSQL (Aurora) with database-per-tenant.
- Drive CI/CD and delivery automation including build, test, and zero-downtime progressive deployment with feature flags.
- Develop agentic-coding-first using tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot and set standards for safe, correct delivery.
- Own end-to-end observability and prove parity with the legacy system via test harnesses.
- Lead production confidence via automated testing, root-cause analysis, and resilience/self-healing.
What you'll need
- Typically 10+ years building and operating production software.
- Read C# / .NET fluently for review, validation, and reasoning about correctness.
- Architecting and scaling complex production systems with incremental modernization via coexistence/parallel-run patterns.
- Experience designing microservices and building/deploying containers.
- Distributed-systems fundamentals including event-driven architecture, pub/sub, message queues, and API gateways.
- Hands-on AWS experience including managed databases, load balancing, networking, and managed services plus infrastructure as code.
- Built CI/CD pipelines and used progressive deployments (canary/blue-green/rolling) and feature flags.
- Relational database depth and hands-on data migration with PostgreSQL strongly preferred.
