Overview
Principal Mechanical Engineer for DCI pipes, frames, and structures, supporting power and cooling infrastructure development for data centers.
What you'll do
- Design and integrate hydronic cooling systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers.
- Perform fluid dynamics work such as pressure-drop calculations and pipe sizing for chilled water and glycol-based systems.
- Develop mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for data center power and cooling products.
- Run advanced structural analysis (FEA) to validate integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.
- Design metal enclosures for airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.
- Create CAD models and fabrication drawings for weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts.
- Build and maintain design documentation (BOMs, specifications, test plans, and ECOs) and support compliance reviews.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of mechanical design and fabrication experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor).
- FEA proficiency (ANSYS or Abaqus).
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal forming, and machining.
- Experience with structural design for heavy equipment or large assemblies.
