Principal Product Manager

Overview

Principal Product Manager for Core Intelligence and Optimization at Target, shaping how store signals become intelligence across the product lifecycle.

What you'll do

• Drive long-term product thinking for Core Intelligence and identify emerging opportunities across AI/ML, recommendation, optimization, and automation.
• Translate ambiguous opportunities into clear problem spaces, hypotheses, and product strategies.
• Lead discovery and experimentation for intelligence initiatives spanning multiple product or organizational boundaries.
• Validate hypotheses using simulation, experimentation, prototypes, and data.
• Establish measurable feedback loops connecting intelligence and recommendations to operational outcomes.
• Align product strategy and investment decisions across multiple product groups and communicate concepts to senior leaders.
• Coach and mentor product managers without direct people-management responsibility.

What you'll need

• Requires a 4-year college degree or equivalent experience, with an advanced degree as a plus.
• Needs 8+ years of product management experience solving highly complex product problems.
• Must demonstrate senior individual contributor ability across organizational boundaries.
• Has strong discovery and experimentation mindset.
• Should have experience strongly preferred in AI/ML, data products, recommendation systems, optimization, intelligent platforms, or similarly technical domains.
• Must be able to influence senior Product, Technology, Data Science, and business leaders without direct authority.
• Requires exceptional problem framing, systems thinking, and product judgment.
