Principal Site Reliability Engineer

Overview

Principal Site Reliability Engineer for the Site Reliability & Infrastructure Engineering team, focused on cloud operations, reliability, and operational automation.

What you'll do

• Define technical vision and long-term architecture for reliability and infrastructure.
• Lead platform initiatives including Kubernetes infrastructure, observability frameworks, SLO programs, and incident management systems.
• Partner with engineering leadership to review architecture decisions and enforce non-functional requirements.
• Identify systemic reliability risks and drive remediation across teams.
• Define and operationalize SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across the platform as an org standard.
• Design and build AI-assisted operational systems for correlating telemetry and driving remediation and deployment safety.

What you'll need

• Deep, expert-level understanding of Kubernetes internals, failure modes, capacity planning, and large-scale cluster management.
• Proven experience defining and operationalizing SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across an engineering organization.
• Expertise with observability stack tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Elasticsearch.
• Expert grounding in AWS, GCP, or Azure including networking fundamentals, security, and cost optimization at scale.
• Ability to reason through complex distributed systems failure modes and graceful degradation.
• Track record leading major incident response, blameless postmortems, and implementing systemic fixes.
• 12+ years of relevant hands-on experience and technical leadership on complex, cross-team infrastructure initiatives.
