Director, Site Reliability Engineering

Overview

Director of Site Reliability Engineering leading an India-based SRE organization to scale and ensure reliable operations for Okta’s production fleet.

What you'll do

• Oversee SRE covering Okta platform, databases, edge networking, Kubernetes platform, CI/CD, observability, FinOps, and automation tooling.
• Build and lead a high-caliber India-based SRE organization supporting Okta’s production fleet.
• Partner with global engineering, product, and infrastructure leaders to deliver resilient, scalable, secure services.
• Define and execute the India SRE strategy aligned with global reliability goals.
• Lead post-incident reviews, root-cause analysis, and ensure long-term corrective actions; participate in incident management and on-call rotations.
• Implement automation and observability to reduce manual toil and improve operational efficiency.
• Drive infrastructure practices including Terraform and Kubernetes, and hire/mentor SRE talent across India.

What you'll need

• 16+ years of experience in site reliability, infrastructure, or production engineering.
• 8+ years of technical leadership and people management, including managing managers.
• Strong expertise in automation, observability, performance optimization, and incident response.
• 4+ years of experience running an SRE org supporting a SaaS/Cloud service in a public cloud, preferably AWS.
• Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building or scaling offshore SRE teams partnering with global counterparts.
