Process Automation Engineer India

Overview

Process Automation Engineer to implement and support automation systems that improve the efficiency, safety, and reliability of bioethanol production processes.

What you'll do

• Assess bioethanol plant automation infrastructure, instrumentation availability, and personnel training.
• Support on-site implantation of solutions with IT/AT considerations, including OPC communication basics.
• Use data logger/data historian and perform basic configuration for PLC and DCS systems.
• Digitalize and connect fermentation lab data to a database for analysis, and design dashboards for visualization and actions.
• Select and integrate instrumentation and sensors for process-variable monitoring and optimization.
• Diagnose automation-related issues, recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime, and support continuous operation.
• Train operations and maintenance personnel on use and maintenance of the digital fermentation solution.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process automation, preferably in bioethanol or similar process industries.
• Proficiency in programming PLCs and DCS systems.
• Strong understanding of process control principles including PID, cascade, and advanced control strategies.
• Experience with SCADA software and HMI development.
• Knowledge of instrumentation technologies such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, and temperature sensors.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61511).

• Office in Mumbai or home office with >50% time travel in India and occasional overseas travel.
