Project Engineer

Overview

Design, engineer, develop, integrate, test, commission and support SCADA, DMS or related automation solutions for electrical networks of ETAP Software.

What you'll do

• Design, engineer, develop, document, integrate, test, commission and support SCADA, DMS or related automation solutions for electrical networks.
• Commission control room setups and SCADA-DMS systems, including RTU/PLC communication.
• Carry out system engineering for automation control projects based on programmable controllers, operator and field devices using SCADA software.
• Perform on-site installation and configuration of SCADA-DMS systems.
• Test the SCADA system and carry out fault finding and troubleshooting during and after installation.
• Interact with and assist customers, users and other ETAP field personnel in operation, inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned applications.
• Perform commissioning and service activities in power equipment with less supervision.
• Build SCADA and DMS databases and configure equipment such as routers, RTUs, FRTUs, modems and firewalls.
• Help create engineering work processes for development, testing and deployment.

What you'll need

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Control Systems, Electronic/Electrical, CSE or IT Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years of experience developing SCADA and network solutions.
• Hands-on experience executing SCADA-ADMS, industrial or solar projects.
• Experience in PLC/RTU/RMU/FRTU connectivity.
• Experience implementing plant historians and reporting tools.
• Experience in scripting with Python, C#, C++ or VB.
• Experience in database configuration and stored procedure writing using SQL or another database.
• Experience delivering engineering deliverables such as control philosophy, FDS, FAT and SAT procedures, user manuals, architecture and HMI graphics development.
• Experience establishing industrial network connectivity in the OT layer.
• Experience with router, managed switch and VLAN configuration with rules and policies.
• Experience monitoring enterprise systems and installing security applications.
• Understanding of SQL, Mongo, Oracle and PI databases.
• Relay integration on the IEC-61850 protocol (ABB, Siemens, Micom, Ashida, CGL, Schneider etc.).
• Ability to work independently and handle customer interactions.
• Ability to analyse problems and provide solutions.
• Proficiency in communicating technical concepts both verbally and in writing.

Nice to have

• CCNA certification.
• Applicable technical certifications.
• Prior experience with VMware, PowerShell, Shell Scripting, VBScript and Python.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in automation and SCADA solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of SCADA databases.
• Experience with communications devices such as modems, repeaters, GSM, GPRS, gateways, routers, firewalls, Ethernet and OFC.
• Experience with communications protocols such as DNP3, IEC60870-5-101/104/IEC61850, MODBUS serial and TCP-IP.
• Experience with RTUs, IEDs and PLC systems.
• Knowledge of selecting components for RTU/control cabinets such as power supplies, UPS, batteries, GSM/GPRS/3G/4G modems, radio modems, interposing relays, MCBs and terminals/connectors.
• Advanced experience designing SCADA/DMS/ADMS/OMS systems.
• Knowledge of PPC and MGC functionality.
• Knowledge of relay coordination.
