Project Engineer - Civil

Overview

Designs civil engineering solutions for substation and transmission line projects, including AIS and GIS substations up to 500kV. Supports engineering delivery, technical coordination, installation and commissioning activities.

What you'll do

• Develop civil, structural and detail engineering designs for substation projects.
• Prepare grading, drainage, surfacing, foundation, structural and building design documents.
• Produce technical documentation, equipment specifications, bills of materials and drawings.
• Review consultant designs and drawings and provide technical comments.
• Coordinate technical issues with site teams, customers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Participate in design reviews and support installation and commissioning activities.
• Record engineering changes and contribute to risk registers, close-out reports and lessons learned.

What you'll need

• 6–10 years of experience in substation design.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
• Experience with HV equipment, substation system design and UK utilities.
• Experience designing AIS and GIS substation foundations and structures up to 500kV.
• Hands-on experience with STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, LPILE, LShaft, RISA and AutoCAD.
• Experience with transmission line design using PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER or PLS-POLE.
• Knowledge of ANSI standards, pile foundation design and electronic records management systems.

Nice to have

• Experience handling ANSI units such as feet, inches and pounds.
