QA Automation Engineer

Overview

QA Automation Engineer responsible for ensuring accuracy, reliability, and readiness of Morningstar’s modernized Investment Calculation Services.

What you'll do

• Validate data quality (accuracy, completeness, consistency, coverage, and timeliness) across multiple storage systems.
• Investigate and analyze data discrepancies by tracing upstream sources to identify root causes.
• Develop scripts or Python-based utilities for ongoing data quality assessment and reporting.
• Leverage internal AI knowledge bases to understand business data flows and investment-calculation domain logic.
• Define and refine automation strategy for modernization initiatives.
• Design and implement automation frameworks and translate requirements into automated test cases.
• Own the QA lifecycle for assigned components and guide engineering teams on testing best practices.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related.
• 1-3 years of experience in Python in a commercial application or service environment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience analyzing and validating large-scale datasets.
• Experience with AWS cloud first architecture including services like Lambda, ECS, EC2, Fargate, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices.
• Experience with Agile methodology and tools like JIRA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the financial services domain (e.g., accounts, portfolios, holdings, returns, and performance streams).
