Release Engineer - Data Plane Internal Tooling and Productivity

Overview

Release Engineer for ClickHouse’s Data Plane Internal Tooling and Productivity, split between operations execution and software development.

What you'll do

• Plan and execute rolling upgrades across tens of thousands of ClickHouse clusters.
• Own the release pipeline from pre-upgrade validation and staged rollouts to post-upgrade monitoring and incident response.
• Investigate and resolve production issues as part of a regular on-call rotation.
• Build and improve internal tooling and automation for large-scale database operations.
• Work with core database and cloud infrastructure teams to address operational pain points.
• Support and educate other engineering teams using internal tools.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience operating stateful distributed systems in production (e.g., databases, message queues, storage).
• Hands-on experience running upgrades or maintenance operations on live production data stores at scale.
• Strong production debugging skills for digging into unfamiliar systems under pressure.
• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and Kubernetes.
• Software development experience in Go (or another language with willingness to learn).
• Experience with ClickHouse is preferred.
