Research Engineer - Inspection Technologies

Overview

Research Engineer to execute and lead non-destructive testing (NDE) and inspection technology programs across GE Vernova products. You will develop, validate, and transition inspection technologies through the full product life cycle.

What you'll do

• Design inspection probes and sensors.
• Build inspection plans and optimize inspection performance.
• Develop inspection techniques for applications across raw materials to in-service parts.
• Integrate inspection data processing and analytics software, including probability of detection and imaging/data fusion.
• Develop technologies for health monitoring, damage detection, and material characterization.
• Collaborate with product engineers and GE Global Research to plan and execute technical projects.
• Deliver projects on timelines and cost with proper documentation.

What you'll need

• PhD in Physics/Engineering with 2+ years post-PhD experience in NDE, or a Masters in Sciences/Engineering with 5+ years post-Masters experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of NDE concepts and techniques with deep domain expertise in eddy current, ultrasound, microwave, and other modalities.
• Exposure to physics-based modeling for eddy current probe design.
• Hands-on ability to set up and run experiments; basic background on hardware and instrumentation.
• Ability to formulate, plan, and conduct research projects with specific objectives, milestones, and financial constraints.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented research environment and generate ideas.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
