Overview

Research Scientist for Anthropic’s Life Sciences team to improve Claude’s capabilities on scientific tasks related to biology through post-training, evaluation design, and RL environment development.

What you'll do

• Build and ship agentic tools and integrations for real life science workflows.
• Design and build evaluation benchmarks for biology task capability measurement.
• Work with product and design teams to scope, prototype, and ship life sciences features.
• Partner with biotech, pharma, and academic users to understand workflows and incorporate feedback.
• Build and maintain engineering infrastructure for the biology product surface, including eval harnesses and data pipelines.
• Translate biological domain knowledge into product requirements and evaluation criteria.

What you'll need

• Experience applying ML and software engineering to biological problems.
• Experience in drug discovery/development or fundamental academic research with real scientific workflow understanding.
• Strong software engineering skills in production-quality Python and large codebases.
• Hands-on experience training or fine-tuning ML models (including LLMs and protein language models).
• A track record of shipping computational tools or pipelines biologists use.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.

• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time (some roles may require more).
