Overview
Research Scientist for Life Sciences (Computational), working on computational biology that connects large-scale data analysis with experimental biology. The role builds and operates analysis pipelines and collaborates with experimentalists to generate and prioritize hypotheses.
What you'll do
- Build, run, and maintain analysis pipelines for sequence analysis, structural bioinformatics, comparative genomics, and functional screen design.
- Partner with experimental biologists to design experiments and turn results around quickly to inform the next experiment.
- Use literature and curated biological knowledge bases to generate and prioritize hypotheses for experimental follow-up.
- Stand up and maintain computational infrastructure including data ingestion, workflow orchestration, internal databases, and access interfaces.
- Use Claude and internal agent frameworks in day-to-day work and feed learnings back to model-improvement and product teams as evaluations, datasets, and failure cases.
- Shift focus across projects as priorities change, emphasizing breadth and flexibility.
What you'll need
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biophysics, machine learning, computer science, or a related quantitative/biological field, or equivalent industry research experience.
- Track record of leading computational biology research end to end, from question to result, with evidence of impact (e.g., publications, preprints, released datasets/tools, or program-changing research).
- Demonstrated breadth across multiple areas of computational biology.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages used in scientific computing and comfort working on large datasets in Linux and cloud compute environments.
- Ability to scope an ambiguous biological question and produce a result an experimentalist can act on.
- Ability to communicate computational results clearly to both biologists and ML researchers.
