Job description

Overview

Routine Maintenance Planner in Chevron's Specialty Operations Infrastructure organization at Chevron ENGINE, Bengaluru, providing routine maintenance planning support to Specialty Operations assets.

What you'll do

  • Support the planning of various atmospheric storage tank projects across infrastructure, aligned with the IMPACT turnaround process for tank maintenance.
  • Own spare parts and maintenance inventory strategy for assigned assets or facilities, including critical spares identification, min/max settings, reorder points, and safety stock levels.
  • Ensure availability of critical maintenance spares to support routine maintenance, corrective work, and outages without compromising cost discipline or storage capacity.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, material master data, and stock integrity within SAP / CMMS systems.
  • Develop detailed routine and preventative maintenance job plans, including scope definition, task sequencing, labor estimates, material requirements, permits, and special tools/equipment needs.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, and contractors (as applicable) to ensure job plans align with asset priorities, safety requirements, and operating constraints (including tank availability where applicable).
  • Review and validate work requests to ensure maintenance scope is clearly defined and ready for execution.
  • Support inspection and integrity programs by planning follow-up maintenance work resulting from inspections, findings, and integrity assessments (e.g., tank repairs, coatings, cleaning, valve/piping work) as applicable.
  • Ensure job plans incorporate applicable health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards, procedures, permits, and safe work practices (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, and working at heights) and clearly identify hazards, risks, and controls.
  • Coordinate material and service requirements through appropriate procurement processes to support timely work execution.
  • Support integration of routine maintenance work into maintenance schedules by working closely with Maintenance Supervisors/Schedulers and asset stakeholders; support backlog management and work readiness discussions to ensure work is executable before field execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance planning effectiveness, efficiency, and work quality through standardization and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance planning data within Chevron's CMMS (e.g., SAP or equivalent) and update job plans/templates based on feedback, lessons learned, equipment history, and evolving asset needs; ensure plans are standardized and reusable where appropriate.
  • Provide planning support for routine and preventative maintenance activities across Specialty Operations facilities, including infrastructure systems such as tanks where applicable.
  • Participate in planning reviews, backlog management discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance planning.
  • Interface directly with Chevron assets to provide appropriate levels of ownership and remote planning support.

What you'll need

  • 10 years' experience in atmospheric tank operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance execution, maintenance inventory, warehouse operations, materials management, or related technical roles within refining, terminals, tank farms, chemical, manufacturing, specialty operations, or other industrial infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of routine and preventative maintenance planning processes, job scope development, work readiness principles, and (where applicable) tank and infrastructure maintenance practices.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting maintenance planning for fuels and lubricants, chemical plants, and/or pipeline/terminal assets (including tanks and API 653).
  • Experience planning tank maintenance activities including inspections, repairs, coatings, cleaning, and associated valve or piping-related work.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices related to tank maintenance, integrity management, and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, fixed equipment, rotating equipment, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance activities.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP or equivalent CMMS) and maintenance planning workflows.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work, and contractor safety requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and across multiple functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality planning outputs.
  • Experience identifying planning improvements and standardization opportunities across multiple assets.
