Senior API Engineer – Google Apigee (API Management)

Overview

Senior API Engineer responsible for designing, building, securing, and managing an API gateway platform using Google Apigee (Edge/X/hybrid). The role covers the full API lifecycle, including proxy development, deployment automation, monitoring, and technical documentation.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deploy API proxies in Apigee X, Apigee Edge, or Apigee hybrid.
• Build and configure Apigee policies such as OAuth, API key validation, quota, spike arrest, and threat protection.
• Implement API security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, and rate limiting.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines for Apigee proxy deployments using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Cloud Build.
• Integrate Apigee with backend systems, identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD), and other GCP services.
• Monitor API performance, troubleshoot latency/error issues, and optimize proxy performance.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–7+ years of overall API/Integration development experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on Google Apigee experience (Edge and/or Apigee X/hybrid).
• Hands-on scripting experience in JavaScript, Java, or Python for Apigee policy callouts.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., IAM, Cloud Load Balancing, VPC, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Cloud Build) and Git version control.

Details

• Hybrid role with requirement to work at least three days a week in the office.
• Based in Pune/Noida.
