Senior Backend Engineer - Databases Pyroscope | Germany | Remote

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer for Pyroscope, an open-source continuous profiling database powering Grafana Cloud Profiles.

What you'll do

• Own meaningful projects end to end, shaping what the team builds next.
• Lead projects from concept to rollout, covering design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
• Design, build, and operate core distributed database components (ingestion, storage, query).
• Drive operational excellence by owning outcomes against SLOs and unit cost targets and reducing toil.
• Partner with other Grafana squads to make profiles useful across teams’ workflows.
• Participate in on-call with an EMEA rotation for the services you build and handle incident response.
• Contribute to Pyroscope as an open-source project, including reviewing external contributions.

What you'll need

• Solid experience with a systems language; Pyroscope is written in Go.
• Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Rust, C, C++, Python, Java).
• Experience building and operating cloud services for multi-tenant data systems.
• Comfort talking to customers and breaking ambiguous problems into deliverables (no dedicated PM).
• Experience carrying a pager and doing SRE-style work or infrastructure as code.
• Ability to work well in a fully remote, asynchronous environment and lead through writing and code reviews.
