Overview

Staff Backend Engineer for Grafana Labs’ remote team, building core backend services for an AI-native context layer management system.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test, and operate context ingestion and retrieval orchestration services.
• Create a scalable multi-tenant SaaS architecture with tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, and audit logs.
• Build APIs and service interfaces for agent-facing context retrieval workflows.
• Partner across product and infrastructure to balance experimentation speed with long-term reliability.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards to improve reliability.
• Contribute technical direction on architecture, service boundaries, storage, API contracts, and deployment patterns.

What you'll need

• Solid experience building production-grade, user-facing software systems.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks with a focus on real-world delivery.
• Comfort releasing prototypes, collecting feedback, and iterating pragmatically.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and define scope when requirements are loosely defined.
• Experience using observability tools to understand and troubleshoot system behavior.
• Exposure to cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Remote opportunity with interest in applicants located in Spain, Sweden, UK, Ireland, or Germany.
• Base compensation range in Germany: EUR 109,709 - EUR 131,651.
