Senior Backend Engineer (L4)- Revenue

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (L4) for OpenFX’s Hedging team, a hands-on technical leadership role focused on risk, exposure, and revenue-related calculations.

What you'll do

• Own technical direction for exposure and position keeping, hedge decisioning, venue routing, market making, and Cost/PnL/net revenue calculation.
• Lead design discussions and drive technical decisions to resolution.
• Act as the senior engineer: mentor and guide engineers through collaboration, pairing, and feedback.
• Review and uphold a high quality bar, ensuring work is tested, observable, reconcilable, and operationally safe.
• Take end-to-end accountability for technical execution of the roadmap and surface risks/options early.
• Lead production risk path work, including incident response and turning post-mortems into systemic fixes.
• Work with Product, Operations, treasury, and finance to scope problems and be accountable for adoption.

What you'll need

• 6–8 years of experience building and operating production backend systems, including technical lead experience.
• Trading background working on live trade/order/risk paths at a trading company, exchange, or brokerage.
• Technical depth to lead/review/guide across the full scope of owned systems.
• Strong system design skills with clear contracts and decomposition of complex problems.
• Solid command of object-oriented programming principles and low-level design patterns.
• Production engineering experience including observability, debugging, performance tuning, and incident response on 24/7 systems.
• Ability to drive technical decisions to resolution without formal authority through influence.
