Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (L3) for the Trading team at OpenFX, owning major parts of the client trading and pricing engines end-to-end.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate backend services across the trade path including quoting, pricing, spread application, and trade lifecycle management.
• Own features end-to-end, including scoping, delivery, rollout, and operational health of shipped work.
• Drive work to closure with Product, Design, and Operations, accountable for adoption.
• Build for correctness and latency on a live client trade path, weighing trade-offs.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and alerting for predictable production behavior.
• Design for failure with retries, idempotency, and safe recovery during downstream dependency issues.
• Expose trading capabilities across GUI, public API, and conversational AI with stable contracts.

What you'll need

• 4–6 years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Trading background building systems on a live trade or order path (trading company, exchange, or brokerage).
• Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, and API design.
• Practical experience in distributed systems.
• Production engineering instincts including observability, debugging complex systems, performance tuning, and incident response.
• Comfort with ambiguous problems and ability to scope deliverables without waiting for direction.
• Hands-on, high-agency work style and use of AI coding tools to get materially more done.
