Senior Backend Engineer (Node.Js)

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer for building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs, primarily using Node.js.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services primarily with Node.js.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable REST APIs.
• Work with databases and backend infrastructure to deliver high-performing services.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions.
• Debug and resolve technical issues across development and production environments.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with product, design, frontend, and backend teams.
• Work with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, to improve scalability, availability, and security.

What you'll need

• 3–7 years of backend software development experience with strong hands-on Node.js.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on production experience building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, asynchronous programming, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with databases, data modeling, and writing efficient queries.
• Experience with background jobs, queues, asynchronous processing, or event-driven systems.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor) for development, debugging, testing, code review, and productivity.

Nice to have

• Ruby on Rails experience.
• Experience with Rails background processing tools (Sidekiq, Resque, ActiveJob, or Shoryuken).
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD practices.
