Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

Overview

Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to design, operate, and improve IG’s GCP-based data platform services and Internal Developer Platform, partnering with data and ML teams.

What you'll do

• Design and architect scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform and standardisation initiatives.
• Build, optimise, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
• Operate and evolve GCP data platform services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
• Support IAM and security posture with least-privilege enforcement.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis, driving improvements to reduce recurrence.
• Contribute to an Internal Developer Platform by maintaining catalog entries, scaffolder templates, and TechDocs.

What you'll need

• 8+ years in cloud infrastructure engineering with hands-on GCP platform administration.
• Experience with GCP networking (VPC, VPCSC, Direct Connect) and IaaS/PaaS architectural patterns.
• Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform with multi-environment configuration management.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD (pipelines, runners, merge request workflows).
• Knowledge of Cloud IAM and access control with least-privilege and security best practices.
• Ability to collaborate with data or ML engineering teams as a platform provider.
• Consultative approach with comfort working with non-technical stakeholders.
