Senior Counsel, AVP

Overview

Senior Counsel (AVP) in the Legal team supporting CIB businesses at Deutsche Bank in Mumbai, reporting to the India Legal Head.

What you'll do

• Provide general structuring, product, regulatory, and transactional legal advice to CIB businesses.
• Review and conduct due diligence on legal/regulatory issues and identify or resolve conflicts of interest.
• Review financing, collateral, intercreditor, and risk syndication legal agreements, opinions, and enforcement memos.
• Facilitate execution of transaction documentation in consultation with external counsel.
• Assist with portfolio management by providing legal advice and supporting amendment and secondary market documentation.
• Provide or facilitate training on relevant regulatory/legal developments and products.
• Serve as a key risk manager by identifying material legal and jurisdictional risks and escalating material issues.

What you'll need

• 8 to 10 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in banking and finance/lending transactions including security arrangements.
• Experience covering structured finance, margin lending, acquisition finance, and real estate finance.
• Ability to provide legal and regulatory advice for product structuring, execution, and documentation support.
• Previous experience on cross-border transactions involving/involving international banks.
• Must be qualified to practice law in India (dual qualification and international experience is a plus).
• Professional law degree: Bachelor/Masters in Law.
