Senior Engineer, Messaging Platform

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer (Messaging Platform) to help reinvent Postman’s Notifications Platform for agent-driven, contextual notification experiences.

What you'll do

• Design and build the next generation Notifications Platform.
• Reimagine notification workflows to be agentic and event-driven.
• Build backend systems for contextual notifications triggered by agents, workflows, and product events.
• Create reliable platform primitives for triggering, routing, delivery, retries, deduplication, rate limiting, user preferences, and lifecycle management.
• Improve developer experience via APIs, self-serve tooling, documentation, and integration workflows.
• Expand observability across the notification lifecycle (trigger, send reason, delivery, and success).
• Ensure reliability and user trust by minimizing duplicates, stale notifications, noisy experiences, and incorrect targeting.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience building distributed systems, platform services, or large-scale backend applications.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages: JavaScript, Python, Java, Go, PHP, or C++.
• Experience designing APIs, frameworks, or platform abstractions used by multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, operational excellence, and system failure modes.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, queues, workflow engines, or orchestration platforms.
• Ability to translate product requirements into durable, scalable platform capabilities.

Details

• Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
• In-office expectation: for Bangalore, employees work in the office three days a week and will transition to five days per week by the end of the year.
