Overview
Lead engineering teams responsible for Twilio’s Communication Identity products, including Porting, Hosting, A2P Messaging, customer-facing services, internal APIs, and operational tooling. Own people strategy, delivery execution, stakeholder relationships, and operational excellence while advancing AI-enabled engineering practices.
What you'll do
- Own the domain delivery roadmap and convert technical strategy into quarterly plans.
- Drive adoption of AI coding assistants and measure their impact on delivery and quality.
- Own reliability, incident response, on-call health, and security for the team.
- Partner with Product Management and engineering teams to improve customer and internal-platform experiences.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain engineering talent.
- Prioritize product, platform, and tooling investments across competing stakeholder needs.
- Communicate strategy, risks, roadmaps, trade-offs, and decisions to stakeholders.
What you'll need
- 15+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of engineering management experience leading 10+ engineers.
- Experience designing and operating highly available, cloud-native distributed systems.
- Deep familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, microservices, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience driving AI-tool adoption within an engineering team.
- Experience building high-performing teams and developing engineers from mid-level to staff-plus.
- Experience with mission-critical reliability, incident management, on-call rotations, and SLO improvements.
Nice to have
- Experience leading internal platform or operational tooling teams.
- Experience scaling teams through organizational change and ambiguity.
Details
- Remote role in the United States.
- Occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.
- Not eligible for hiring in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, or surrounding areas.
