Senior Engineering Manager - Product Platforms

Overview

Senior Engineering Manager to lead teams building shared product platforms (API-first platforms and a usage/metering platform) at AlphaSense.

What you'll do

• Lead, grow, and develop backend and platform engineering teams across API and usage/consumption areas.
• Own delivery of platform roadmap commitments, execution quality, and predictable outcomes.
• Own usage metering and AI credit accounting, including accuracy, auditability, latency, and metering pipeline cost.
• Partner with Product to shape a platform roadmap driven by product and customer needs.
• Uphold API governance, versioning strategy, and backward compatibility for dependent teams.
• Drive operational excellence including SLOs, observability, on-call health, and incident follow-through.
• Partner with Finance/RevOps/Pricing on consumption models, entitlements, quotas, overages, and reporting.

What you'll need

• Proven experience managing backend or platform engineering teams, including hiring and career development.
• Strong hands-on engineering background in backend or distributed systems with ability to engage in design and code reviews.
• Experience with product platforms or shared services consumed by multiple product teams.
• Track record delivering and operating APIs at scale with RESTful API design grounding.
• Experience with data-intensive systems such as high-volume event ingestion, aggregation, and reporting.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
