Senior Mobile Engineer - Instrumentation SDK (iOS) | Germany | Remote

Overview

Build and evolve high-performance mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS, enabling developers to capture mobile telemetry and connect it with backend and infrastructure observability.

What you'll do

• Build and evolve iOS instrumentation SDKs using Swift and Objective-C.
• Design and ship session tracking, crash reporting, sampling, context propagation, and OpenTelemetry features.
• Own projects from design through delivery, feedback, and iteration.
• Improve quality through automated tests, CI, documentation, and backwards-compatible upgrades.
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams.
• Review open-source pull requests and discuss design proposals.
• Mentor teammates and help shape the mobile observability roadmap.

What you'll need

• Strong iOS engineering experience with Swift and Objective-C.
• Experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs, platform libraries, or developer-facing platform code.
• Experience with performance-sensitive code, including startup time, memory, or network efficiency.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, telemetry libraries, or OTel SDKs.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Nice to have

• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or observability open source.
• Experience with React Native, Flutter, or native bindings and bridges.
• Experience with mobile security, privacy, or platform integration.
• Experience with crash aggregation, session replay, or mobile telemetry sampling.

• Remote role based in Germany.
• Compensation: €97,000–€121,000 yearly.
