Overview
Lead pre-sales technical engagements for higher education accounts, particularly R1 research universities. Build solutions and business cases connecting storage, data platforms, HPC, AI, and research workflows to institutional outcomes.
What you'll do
- Develop account knowledge covering research priorities, funding cycles, constraints, and decision-makers.
- Connect technology to measurable research and institutional outcomes.
- Adapt technical conversations for researchers, IT teams, executives, finance, and procurement.
- Build technical and financial business cases, including total cost of ownership and infrastructure costs.
- Support research workloads from instrument output through HPC, AI pipelines, retention, and archiving.
- Lead evaluations, benchmarks, proofs of concept, configurations, and technical wins.
- Author responses to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
What you'll need
- 8 or more years of relevant experience across technology, solution design, and customer-facing communication.
- Pre-sales or customer-facing technical experience.
- Experience with higher education, research computing, academic medical centers, or the public sector.
- Familiarity with HPC and AI environments, including distributed file systems, GPU-attached storage, Slurm, and research data pipelines.
- Technical depth across at least two areas including cloud, HPC, AI infrastructure, data management, infrastructure, analytics, or business applications.
- Track record of connecting technology to business, operational, and financial outcomes.
- BS in computer science, electrical engineering, another technical degree, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of storage architectures, Linux, networking, public cloud, containers, Kubernetes, and data-intensive applications.
- Experience with grant-funded procurement, consortium purchasing, or public-sector contracts.

- Remote role covering Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania.
- Annual base salary: $141,400–$234,500 USD.
