Senior Software Engineer, Demand Bidder, Ad Serving Platform

Overview

Senior Software Engineer for the Demand Bidder team within Roku’s Ad Serving Platform, building and scaling low-latency systems for real-time ad decisioning.

What you'll do

• Design and build core components of a real-time distributed decisioning system with strict latency requirements.
• Own features end-to-end in partnership with product and other engineering teams.
• Advance and evolve architecture components including a pacing engine and scoring/ML engine.
• Troubleshoot subtle issues in highly concurrent, multi-region distributed systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and applied scientists on distributed systems and statistical/ML-driven decision-making.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and promote best practices across development, testing, and operations.

What you'll need

• 10+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Experience owning features or subsystems through design, build, testing, deployment, and iteration.
• Strong command of Java plus algorithms, data structures, and concurrency/multi-threading fundamentals.
• Comfort contributing to live, business-critical systems while maintaining uptime/correctness.
• Experience with distributed caching, high-throughput messaging/streaming systems, and SQL/NoSQL datastores.
• Comfort operating cloud infrastructure at scale (GCP or AWS).
• BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
