Senior Software Engineer, Java - Network Team

Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Java) for Forward’s Network team, building and optimizing software and models for network devices.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the code base, systems, and software architecture as an engineering team member.
• Create and optimize network device models for different vendors and protocols.
• Create infrastructure to configure, collect, and test network devices.
• Work with peers across Networking, Distributed Systems, Big Data, and Search.
• Help bring software development ideas into the networking industry.

What you'll need

• Have 5+ years of work experience in software development.
• Have 3+ years of work experience with Java.
• Hold a BS in Computer Science or a related degree.
• Have strong software engineering experience with large code bases.
• Have a basic understanding of networking and TCP/IP.
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of how switches, routers, firewalls, or load balancers work.
• Experience with networking protocols such as BGP/OSPF/IS-IS and IP features like IPv4/IPv6, plus MPLS, VLAN, VXLAN.
