Overview

Senior Backend Engineers on DoorDash India's product engineering team in Hyderabad, building the backend for a 24x7 on-demand logistics marketplace.

What you'll do

• Develop, release and run large-scale web applications
• Develop and define the backend architecture and tech stack for a product area
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security for backend systems
• Build fast-growing products for consumers and businesses and help take them to new markets globally
• Run rapid experiments with product partners and see the direct impact of your work on customers and the business
• Be part of a new product engineering team in India and help shape how it builds and operates
• Own projects end-to-end and mentor junior and mid-level engineers

What you'll need

• B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of industry experience working with backend tech stacks
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) in the full software development lifecycle, including designing, generating code, testing, monitoring and releasing software; AI is your default way of working, not an add-on
• A strong sense of ownership and a bias for action: you take unclear problems from idea to production and own the outcome
• Product and business sense: you think about the end customer and make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and quality
• Ability to analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability and stability of system resources
• Experience with service-oriented architecture, writing REST or gRPC APIs, unit testing, and architectural design
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and other technologies (e.g. Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ)
• Clear communication with engineers, product managers and business partners across time zones
