Senior Systems Operations Engineer

Overview

Senior Systems Operations Engineer role supporting Enterprise mainframe and midrange console monitoring.

What you'll do

• Lead or participate in managing installed systems and infrastructure in the Systems Operations area.
• Review and analyze operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure availability.
• Monitor the Mainframe/Midrange environment, respond to alerts, and resolve routine production problems per operating instructions.
• Work with vendors and technical personnel for problem resolution.
• Lead the team to meet technical deliverables using technical process controls or standards.
• Run scripts and draft updates to processing procedures/documentation for application processing and backup.
• Act as a mentor to individuals.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience (or equivalent).
• Experience in Mainframe console operations.
• Experience using incident tracking tools (ServiceNow) for change, problem, incident, and availability management.
• Knowledge of scripting languages and JCL.
• Knowledge of system utilities, operating systems, tape processing, and scheduling packages.
• Understanding of incident and change management principles.
• Self-motivated, able to multitask, and able to work under pressure in a geographically dispersed team.
