Service Engineer

Overview

Service Engineer in the Power Transformer service team, performing installation, testing, commissioning and service activities for power transformers, OLTCs and related equipment at customer sites and Hitachi Energy projects across India and overseas.

What you'll do

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, policies and guidelines.
• Perform installation, testing, commissioning, and service activities for power transformers, OLTCs, and related equipment at customer sites and Hitachi Energy projects.
• Execute erection, testing, and commissioning activities for power transformers up to 400 kV class.
• Analyze transformer trips, faults, and operational issues, and provide effective troubleshooting solutions.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for technical issues, warranty cases, and site failures.
• Coordinate with contractors, customers, and project stakeholders during erection, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Provide operation and maintenance training to customers and end users.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to RTCC panels, OLTC drive mechanisms, marshaling boxes, DM boxes, and digital monitoring devices.
• Prepare and submit service reports, commissioning documents, time sheets, expense reports, and other project documentation in a timely manner.
• Support remote troubleshooting and technical assistance for transformer service activities.
• Plan site activities, including preparation of tools, equipment, and resource requirements.
• Collaborate with project management teams while ensuring compliance with project, customer, and company requirements.
• Ensure customer sign-off, PACs, and service documentation are completed after task execution.
• Prepare RCA of troubleshooting and under-warranty issues.
• Adhere to all Hitachi Energy safety, quality, and integrity standards and promptly report any incidents.
• Demonstrate Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity while maintaining professional conduct at customer sites and company locations.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-8 years' experience working in installation, site testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Power Transformers up to 220 KV class. Candidates with higher experience also to be considered.
• Knowledge of RTCC, marshalling box, OLTC DM box and other digital equipment including control circuit.
• Experience to handle site execution for 220 KV class transformer.
• Experience to handle the customer/site.
• Quick learner for newly designed transformer/its accessories.
• Knowledge of transformer accessories in detail and NIFPES.
• Knowledge of parallel operation of OLTC.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English language.

• Location: Maneja, Gujarat, India.
• Full-time role; not remote.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India and overseas (up to 90% travel).
