Overview

Shopfloor Apps Manufacturing Systems Engineer for connecting OT shop-floor automation with enterprise IT applications across PHINIA’s global manufacturing network, enabling secure, reliable data flows to support digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

What you'll do

• Connect to plant-floor automation systems (e.g., Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Siemens S7/TIA Portal) to identify, configure, and extract production data tags.
• Configure and maintain OPC-UA servers/clients (e.g., Kepware, Matrikon, native Siemens/Rockwell) including certificate management and performance optimization.
• Set up and maintain data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI, FactoryTalk Historian, WinCC archives) including polling, compression, and storage sizing.
• Build secure integrations between shopfloor systems and MES/ERP/PLM/IoT platforms using protocols including OPC-UA, MQTT, SOAP, REST, and AMQP.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data mining, validation, and troubleshooting, and support data quality investigations.
• Develop real-time dashboards and monitoring tools using time-series data from sensors/PLCs/historians.

What you'll need

• 6–10 years of experience in manufacturing IT, OT systems, or shopfloor application development/integration.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens automation platforms including RSLogix/Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, TIA Portal, WinCC, and related historians.
• Practical OPC-UA experience including server/client configuration and certificate management.
• Experience setting up and configuring data historians (PI, FactoryTalk Historian, WinCC archives, or similar).
• Multi-protocol integration fluency with OPC-UA, MQTT, SOAP, REST, and AMQP.
• SQL fluency for joins, window functions, and query optimization.
