Overview

Software Development Manager for eBay’s Platforms, building and leading a Platform Engineering team in Bangalore within Infrastructure Engineering.

What you'll do

• Build, lead, and develop a Platform Engineering team in Bangalore.
• Define and execute a roadmap for Java developer platforms, frameworks, and CI/CD capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership for architecture and design of scalable, reliable, and secure platform services.
• Drive platform development using Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Kubernetes, Tekton, Kafka, and cloud-native technologies.
• Ensure end-to-end ownership across build, test, deploy, operate, and support.
• Improve developer productivity using reusable frameworks, self-service, automation, and simplified workflows.
• Partner with engineering teams in the US and Shanghai to align technical strategy and execution.

What you'll need

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams and delivering large-scale platforms or distributed systems.
• Strong technical foundation in Java, Spring Boot, Maven, REST services, and microservices architecture.
• Experience building developer platforms, reusable frameworks, CI/CD platforms, or infrastructure tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures; automation, observability, and CI/CD experience.
• Strong understanding of the complete software lifecycle including automated testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Developer-first mindset with experience improving developer experience and productivity.
• Leadership, communication, and collaboration skills for globally distributed teams.
