Software Engineer III

Overview

As a Software Engineer III on the Data Protect Product Engineering team, you will develop features, tools, and scripts for data management products across on-premises and cloud platforms. You will diagnose complex systems, resolve product and performance issues, and collaborate with Product Managers, Customer Support, System Engineers, QA, design, field teams, and customers.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of the end-to-end design and implementation of complete feature sets for on-premises and cloud platforms based on product requirements and customer feedback.
• Engage in technical discussions with Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and Designers to align on design and scope.
• Ensure timely delivery of committed features.
• Communicate deliverables and timelines and follow through on commitments.
• Lead development and testing of patches and hotfixes.
• Assess technical risks and make data-informed decisions to mitigate them.
• Develop tools to help support engineers diagnose and resolve customer-reported issues more efficiently.
• Conduct deep root cause analysis for product defects and performance issues.
• Implement and validate fixes with a focus on quality and speed.

What you'll need

• A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
• Strong coding experience in any of these languages: C, C++, Golang, Python, Java.
• Comfort using JIRA, Github, and a test framework in Python.
• Development experience on products related to enterprise class data protection.
• Knowledge of Microservices, Public Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI etc.) and SaaS architecture.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems written in Go/C/C++ on Linux and Windows Platforms.
• Strong coding, analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skills, including use of tools such as GDB and Python Debugger.
• Problem-solving ability to dive deep to solve complex problems/issues.
• Good testing methodologies and passion for building quality products.
• Great communication skills and ability to influence others to adopt inclusive, innovative, and customer-centric behaviours.
• Knowledge of agile/scrum methodologies.
• Ability to articulate design and implementation choices and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences while simplifying complexity.
• Ability to make decisions based on data and influence stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and support high-quality decision-making.

Nice to have

• AI/ML experience.

Details

• Location: Bangalore, India.
• In-office role; employees within a reasonable commute of core offices work out of the offices 2-3 days a week of their choosing.
• Candidates outside the area should be committed to relocating before their start date and have the legal right to work in the job location.
