Overview
Software Engineer (L5) for Netflix’s JavaScript Applications Platform team, focused on elevating the end-to-end experience of building and shipping JavaScript software.
What you'll do
- Define and evolve internal CLIs and SDK interfaces for browser, backend, and libraries to integrate with the shared platform.
- Develop and maintain the core application development platform, including CI/CD workflows and supporting services and libraries.
- Improve platform observability and performance, optimizing existing solutions without jeopardizing business-critical infrastructure.
- Drive the monorepo and local development experience across shared, cross-category concerns.
- Own infrastructure and deployment integrations connecting the platform to Netflix’s broader deployment ecosystem.
- Collaborate with JavaScript software teams to redraw boundaries between the platform and its users for speed and autonomy.
What you'll need
- Experience designing and operating CI/CD and release systems at real scale (build pipelines, caching/incremental builds, artifact management, and deploy safety).
- Ability to analyze entangled, load-bearing code and identify clean abstractions/interfaces.
- Track record unblocking work across teams by aligning on shared interfaces and negotiating boundaries.
- Ability to design for extensibility while balancing practicality.
- Experience turning technical ambiguity into clear requirements.
- Rigor validating changes to shared infrastructure before shipping and improving release processes toward faster, more confident deploys.
